Chair of Trustees Louisa Russell, Executive Trustee Paul McCue and Information Officer Carol Browne were honoured to attend the Celebration at the invitation of Stan’s daughter, Pat Vinycomb. Pat is a subscribed Friend of Secret WW2 and a former Regular serving member, like Stan, of the RAF. Readers of past newsletters will recall that Stan, a shot-down (1944) RAF Bomber Command navigator and later RAF and SIS/MI6 intelligence officer, was imprisoned in Buchenwald concentration camp alongside the SOE agents who were executed there. Pat arranged for a wreath (see below) to be placed at Buchenwald this year to mark 80 years since its liberation.
